Douglas Baber was himself a prisoner of war for a long period, and he has put into words the impact of the strange kind of life on the mentality of a sensitive man.  Written during his imprisonment, these stories originally put down on stolen smuggled scraps of paper have a sureness of feeling that makes them some of the best things to emerge from the war.  Baber, in his collection of short stories has been able to communicate to the reader the effects of this incarceration.  This 190 page softcover has a very creased and shabby cover, with bottom of the spine missing, but all pages are intact and apart from some browning due to age is in a clean condition inside.  A fascinating read!
