GOOD CONDITION and VERY RARE British made CBS/Fox Video PRE-CERT 1983 PAL format BETAMAX presentation of Stephanie Rothman's endearingly arty Roger Corman vampire sleaze epic THE WAKING HOUR, which is actually the British re-titling of THE VELVET VAMPIRE from 1971 with Michael Blodgett, Sherry Miles, Celeste Yarnall, Gene Shane, Chris Woodley, and Jerry Daniels. Far-Out trippy goth hippy psychedelic musical score by Roger Dollarhide and Clancy B. Grass III. Also known as CEMETERY GIRLS, THE DEVIL IS A WOMAN, and THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS ... right.

British made PRE-CERT PAL format BETAMAX tape -- Or rather, I guess it's a PAL format Betamax since it was made in Great Britain and purchased from a British collector, though it doesn't say so anywhere on the box or tape. From my own personal collection since 2004 or so. Bought this like a fool back when trying to amass as many examples of THE VELVET VAMPIRE in whatever forms I could find them in, not knowing that it was Betamax. Which I don't have the ability anymore to play let alone PAL format Betamax (is there such a thing??) so it's never actually been viewed by me. But, I managed to find a CBS/Fox PAL VHS copy as well and can assure interested bidders that it is the same version of THE VELVET VAMPIRE seen on the North American release recently bootlegged to DVD by CheezyFlicks, the swines. Rather poorly too, this probably has a better picture quality. Betas always did have a reputation for having a somewhat sharper image quality, even if they sucked as a format.

The pictures are the actual video and tape with my name added to the eBay images only to prevent their re-use in making forgeries. Tried to show as much of the tape and box as possible by pasting 2 pictures together: NO RENTAL STICKERS ANYWHERE!!! though even I didn't know anyone who owned a Betamax player back in the day and can only surmise that it more than likely was a prior rental item. Decorated art insert is gorgeous and in perfect condition, considering its 26 years old. The cute little Beta tape looks perfect, the only real condition issue for collectible issues that I can see is that the top right corner of the face label has come loose as a result of normal use prior to my acquiring it. I always believe in keeping my rare videos in the exact condition they arrived in so I've left it as-is, which is really how this should be sold since I can't replace it. But it was sold to me in working condition, has never been played since I acquired it, and is guaranteed by me to be in good working condition as described. And when shipped I will be sure to add extra padding to the inside of the case to protect the tape during transit. Pretty unique little item! and I'll take appropriate measures to ensure it arrives in the same condition it departs in.
