THE WILD HORSEMAN OF THE PAMPAS David Ker Hard cover, Griffith Farran Okeden & Welsh, London,1887?
Very unusual "Victorian Cover", B&W illustrated book of the Argentinian Pampas. Four B&W wood-cut plates, 214 pages, cloth cover. Flowers & leaves etc on front & back cover which have a hand-painted finished look.
CONDITION: "Good". Quite intact . Most significant outside wear is to the back segment of spine-approx. 75mm. separation. Cover is quite clean/distinct/bold, but rubbing, esp along spine has taken signicant "gloss" off the original production. Internally quite good; Front fly-leaf missing, thus shows"gap" between cover and body, but stitching substantially intact; similarly, back portions- but with fly-leaf present - maintain structural integrity per body and cover- stitching substantially intact. All pages fully adhering, very clean, no scribblings/dedications/portions missing...Overall, a solid intact example of a rare book going for over $200 in a condition no better and, quite probably worse than our offering
