RESTORED & READY TO USE!
ANTIQUE TIN & BRASS COAL SCUTTLE
36 cm high x 30 cm wide x 44 cm deep
Up for auction is this very ornate brass hinged metal coal scuttle. I bought this in an antique shop in Mount Gambier, South Australia about 25 years ago. I had it rubbed back and repainted satin black. It comes with its original coal shovel which fits into a metal “pocket” at the back.
It has a handled container (for the coal) which pulls out of the exterior.
It is in very good condition. The only thing I could pick is a small chip where the interior coal container slides in.
Things you should know: The actual pull out coal container has had a repair and has a second bottom put in over the original bottom due to rust (see pictures). This is how I bought it. I did not have any restoration done to the coal container as I was using the scuttle to sit next to our fireplace and it only held newspaper.
We’re getting ready to move to a smaller house so I am selling some of my treasures, including a number of my interesting garden pieces, antiques, reproduction pieces, etc. so please watch my site.
