Flavours are the most expensive part of any shake. The larger companies are all struggling to compete against each other on price so they need to minimise the cost of their formula wherever they can. Because we sell direct, we can afford to use the optimum amount of the highest quality flavours in all our products. You still get great prices, but you also get delicious shakes! (N.B. Some other online companies only sell their shakes as plain, unflavoured protein powders. Who are we?

Factory Direct Proteins is a small online division of one of Australia’s leading suppliers of premium quality whey protein shakes and supplements to the sports nutrition and weight loss markets:  Australia's top sport supplement suppliers . The products our parent company “contract manufacture” for other companies are sold under a number of well known retail brands throughout Australia.

 

We operate out of a 22,000 square foot food manufacturing facility (custom built in late 2006) that is fully equipped for all facets of production.

 

Why are we so much cheaper than the well known brands?

Our experience in this market confirmed that sports people, dieters and health conscious consumers are constantly frustrated by the extreme prices that they are forced to pay for quality products. Some time ago, we looked at the market as a whole and identified a number of ways to streamline the distribution – by cutting all of the middlemen out of the process we can now sell fantastic products at even better prices.

 

Here’s how it works:

• Because we don’t sell through retailers we can save you money.
• Because we sell direct, and distribute large volumes we can negotiate big cost savings that we pass onto you.
• Because we do minimal advertising, we save you money.
• Because we don’t need fancy packaging to attract your attention on the retail shelf, we save you money.
• Because we don’t have sales reps on the road trying to convince shops and gyms to stock our range, we save you money.
• Because we don’t pay large amounts to sponsor professional sports stars, we save you money.
• Because we turnover very large volume through our factory, we negotiate to purchase the best ingredients from Australia and overseas at the best possible prices – we save you money.
• Because we only sell direct to end users, you are not paying for the costs and profits of the numerous distributors and marketing companies that are usually involved in the sale of sports supplements. That really saves you money!

By taking a step back and looking at what the customer really pays for at the cash register, we have been able to structure Factory Direct Proteins in a way that offers the same great products, at much more realistic prices.

 

What makes Factory Direct Proteins different to other companies?

The answer is simple - We manufacture and pack the products ourselves.

 

Did you know that quite a few of Australia’s biggest and best known protein supplement and sports nutrition brands are just marketing companies? They do not manufacture anything. Here is how they operate: 

1. They pay someone to develop a product for them or they employ someone fulltime to do the development work on their behalf.
2. They then pay a separate company to manufacture the products for them (of course, these “contract manufacturers” are there to make a profit, so it adds to the high cost that you pay at retail level).
3. The marketing company then pays huge amounts in marketing costs – TV and radio advertising, magazine advertising, sponsorship agreements, product ranging fees to supermarkets etc. These huge costs are then passed onto you - the customer.
4. These marketing companies also have a large team of sales staff on the road. Again, the cost of wages and company cars adds to the price you pay for their product...
5. They then sell their products in bulk to a distributor whose job it is to sell the products to individual retail outlets (of course, this adds more cost, because the distributor wants a profit too…).
6. Finally, the retail outlet gets their hands on the product and adds another big markup (to cover their rent, wages, profits, etc) and sells it to you.
7. You also pay for transport between each of the middlemen.

We manufacture the products ourselves, (we also manufacture for other marketing companies too, so we know just how much they are paying to buy their products and the margins they make).

At Factory Direct Proteins, we understand that quality is critical in all of our operations. We know that there is no point selling either low quality products for low prices, or premium quality products at highly inflated prices.

 

If we did either of the above we would be exactly the same as every other brand on the market today. The one thing that separates us from the competition is our ability to offer premium quality products at low prices – what a novel concept.

 

How do you know that our products are high quality?

The answer is simple. There are only a small number of dairies in Australia and New Zealand with the technology and equipment to make high quality whey proteins. This means that all well known brands of Australian sports supplements are made from the exact same ingredients (Yep – the ratios of each ingredients may be slightly different, the flavours they use are different, but the all important whey proteins they use all come from a small number of suppliers. Our proteins are exactly the same as the ones used by many of the Big Brands much more expensive retail products).

 

Now that is easy for us to say about our own product, but we took it one step further.

 

We had our shakes analysed by TWO of Australia’s leading independent analysts in this field. Our amino acid analysis was undertaken by the Australian Proteome Analysis Facility at Macquarie University. Our nutritional information panel was tested by AgriQuality. Both tests confirmed that our protein shakes are as good as – and often better than – the leading brands in Australia.

Unflavoured proteins.

For the customer who wants complete control over their protein intake, we offer pure, unflavoured, unsweetened unadulterated whey proteins. Choose from any of our premium quality Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Calcium Casseinate or Soy Protein Isolate – all packed in a proper food grade manufacturing facility (not some dodgy backyard operation).

Amino Acids and supplements.

Premium quality supplements are usually very expensive. Don’t pay huge amounts of money for premium supplements, or save a few bucks by purchasing inferior products. At Factory Direct Proteins, we only sell the best supplements available – but because of our buying power and direct distribution, we sell them for less than anyone ever dreamed possible.
