Pictured for auction is an authentic Phantom Skull ring that is all metal. One size fits all. This ring was made to coincide with the release of the movie "The Phantom", released in 1996, starring Billy Zane and Katherine Zeta Jones. This ring is not a cheapie, it's solid metal, and heavy, too. You can see how huge the ring is in the photo

THE PHANTOM

The Phantom adventure comic strip was created by Lee Falk (then just 23 years old) in 1936 - well prior to the first appearances of "Superman" and "Batman." In the beginning, Falk drew and wrote the strip, but soon all of the art tasks were taken over by its inker, Ray Moore. In the years that followed, many other accomplished artists have illustrated The Phantom's adventures, including Wilson McCoy, Carmine Infantino, Bill Lignante, Sy Barry, and recently, George Olesen with inkers Keith Williams and Fred Fredericks. Lee Falk, who created King Features' Mandrake the Magician prior to The Phantom, cultivated a tremendously successful career in theater as a playwright, and as the producer of over 300 plays. Though well in his 80's, Falk continued to write all of the Phantom's US adventures until his death in March. His amazing tenure as a successful comic strip writer left us with 65 years of Mandrake adventures, 63 years of Phantom stories and untold millions of fans worldwide.

Since his creation in 1936, "The Phantom - The Ghost Who Walks" has appeared in comic strips and books as any one of 21 different incarnations, dating back to the 16th Century! "The Phantom" name and role passed from father to son, from generation to generation, since the first Phantom took a fateful oath over four centuries ago. That young man, Kit Walker, was the sole survivor of a vicious pirate raid. He washed up on a remote Bangalla beach (in central Africa), vowing vengeance. Finding the body of the pirate who murdered his father, Kit lifted the villain’s skull, and swore what became known as The Oath of the Skull: that he and his descendants would fight for "the destruction of piracy, greed, cruelty and injustice." The Phantom’s adventures pit him against pirates and evildoers throughout history, thrilling readers for over sixty years!

Like the first and all subsequent Phantoms, the current Phantom is also named Kit Walker. He is the 21st descendant of the first Ghost Who Walks. The Phantom is a hero who continues to endure, literally, from one generation to the next! Even today, he still fights the forces of evil, with the aid of his faithful lupine companion, Devil, the grey wolf, and his mighty white steed, Hero.
