I work from remembrance with thoughts from my past emerging as images; images so intense that they become feelings. It is these feelings that I am urged to create."

Rodney Spicer (b. 1956)

His statement on canvas reflects the stability of his upbringing. He has always lived on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales Australia and we see the power of his material instincts depicting a romance with country life. From the peace and quiet of our salty shores to the clean cut hardwood ridges of the bush, he steals it's strength and vigor yet allows romance; this is his unique style.

We see the influence from his paternal side of the family depicted via the sweeping, open, typically outback Australian scenes. There is a brilliance in his work in the way he so effectively recreates the effect of light on the native Australian landscape.

From his early studies at the Sydney School of Arts, Rod Spicer has progressed to become a major exhibitor. His works are displayed in a diverse range of leading galleries including the Eddie Glastra Gallery, Paddington, Sydney to Jabiru Gallery of Fine Art at Sanctuary Cove, Queensland.

His exhibits over the years from 1968 to the present include;
