Author David Norliss (Roy Thinnes), an investigative reporter specialising in debunking the supernatural, disappears after demanding a meeting with his publisher (Don Porter). The publisher drops by Norliss' house, finding it deserted, with a large number of audio cassette tapes left behind, containing Norliss' notes. Playing the first tape, the publisher hears the story of Ellen Cort (Angie Dickinson). Late one night she investigates her recently deceased husband's art studio. There she is attacked and her dog slain by what she maintains was her husband (Nick Dimitri). Despite taking a point blank shotgun blast, however, the police find no body. Norliss promises to investigate the incident. Dickinson and Thinnes learn that her husband, who was aware that he was going to die, sought the assistance of a Voodoo practitioner and received a spell that allowed his body to rise at night to complete a statue of a demon. The statue, made of clay, mixed with human blood is created to come to life upon the recanting of the spell made known to DiCenzo by the Voodoo practitione r.Directed by Dan (Night Stalker) Curtis .Starring Roy Thinnes, Angie Dickinson, Claude Akins, Don Porter, Michele Carey, Vonetta McGee, Hurd Hatfield, and Nick Dimitri. Director Curtis brings his trademark Night Stalker style to this well acted TV horror which benefits from the solid noir-like narrative approach and some efficient scares (most notably when Ellen's sis suspects someone is watching her from behind a curtained motel window...someone is).
