Small 224 paged pocket-sized hardcover book with dust jacket. Dust jacket is pretty tatty with small tears around the edges etc. Book is in good conditions with foxing to the extreme edges of pages.

"How much more profitable visits to country houses and
auction rooms would be if we were familiar with the
antique furniture which we would be likely to see there.
For these purposes Mr Woodforde has prepared this
little volume with special attention to quick, on-the-
spot reference. The furniture is grouped in the
conventional periods, Tudor, Stuart, Georgian,
Regency and Victorian. In each the examples are set
out in the same order - chests, chairs, tables and
other living-room and bedroom furniture. For more
leisurely reading every period has a general introduction.
There are five attractive line drawings of typical interiors
of the times and the 190 articles of furniture described
are authentically illustrated. Rare features of this book
are the coloured endpapers of different woods and the
drawings of handles. There is also a glossary of
technical terms and the book is fully indexed.
Social history is now an important item in education and
students will find Mr Woodforde's approach to furniture
very valuable and entertaining."
