![]() THE POTTER'S CRAFT On CD An electronic edition of an out of print publication. 224 pages in length with many illustrations
Since the publication of the first edition of this book eleven years have elapsed, years packed full of varied and interesting experiences. During that time it has been the pleasant fortune of the author to conduct classes, especially summer classes, in the science and art of pottery production. These have been occasions of meeting many fine and noble personalities whom to know is a liberal education. As one of the consequences of these experiences the book has been revised and some new chapters have been written. Especial acknowledgments are due and are gratefully made to Elsie Binns for the chapter on Clay-Working for Children and to Maude Robinson for that on Alkaline Glazes. The photographs are by the Taylor Studios, Hornell, N. Y. C. F. B. Alfred, New York. March, 1922.
![]() ![]() ![]() Plus Two Bonus Books: Clay Workers Handbook: A Manual For All Engaged In The Manufacture Of Articles From Clay, by Alfred Searle written in 1921, 388 pages. "The present volume embodies an attempt to sift out from this mass of material such information as an extensive experience in clayworking has shown to be of value, and to express it, as far as it is possible to do so, in language which will be understood by any intelligent man. Various matters, especially in the section devoted to Tests and Control, are inserted chiefly with a view to showing something of the amount of checking and control which is possible. The trouble and exactitude required in order to carry out several of the tests mentioned may be beyond the power of the ordinary reader, but may prove useful to that increasing class of clayworkers those who have passed through some training in a technical school. Pottery: A Handbook of Practical Pottery for Art Teachers and Students, by Richard Lunn written in 1910, 83 pages. "This book is primarily intended for beginners and students, and so may be found, in places, very elementary by those who know more about practical potting. It is mainly based upon teaching given by the author to practical Pottery Classes at the Royal College of Art, and other Schools of Arts and Crafts."
