1939 - 1944

This magazine, issued to mark the fourth anniversary of the departure from Australia of the 17th Australian Infantry Brigade for active service, records in verse and story happenings in every theatre of war (with the exception of Malaya), in which the A.I.F. has taken part in this Second World War. Here are stories of Australia, Palestine, Africa, Greece, Crete, Syria, Ceylon, and New Guinea - milestones garlanded with abundant honour along a triumphal march to victory.

Here, too, are inscribed accounts of units which have so ably served the brigade through the good adn bad of four years of war, units which we came to regard as an integral part of the Seventeenth, the gunners of the 2/1 and 2/2 Field Regiments, 2/2 and 2/8 Field Companies Engineers, 2/2 Field Ambulance, No. 2 Company 6 Division A.A.S.C., and 2/1 Casualty Clearing Station.

In simple terms these men, who have endured much, recount, in their own inimitable way, the sidelights, the blood, the sweat, the tears, the laughter of four years' campaigning. Underlying all is an expression of proud achievement, a pride in which we all share.

Napoleon once said that the finest troops in the whole world were his Old Guard. he never saw the 17th Brigade.

The cover is a soft cover. It does not have a Jacket. Magazine is in excellent condition for age.
