Thundertape 400m Superconductive Hot Tape - New

Wherever we can we like to support Australian made products and this is certainly one of those times.

Hot tape is great for speed of installation and visibility by animals and humans alike, but the problem is that the fine wires don't carry the pulse much more than about 500 metres before the resistance gets too high and you get no pulse at the end on the line.  Not real handy if you need to go more than 500 metres.

So Thunderbird (who are Australia's largest manufacturer of electric fencing gear) have worked on this project for a number of years and now we have a superconductive tape that will carry the pulse for 20 kilometres!!!  Small difference!!

How does it do it?  If you have a look at the close up shot, you will see that you don't have 5 strands of stainless wire.  You have 3 pairs of stainless and copper wires that are plaited together.  The wires are also significantly bigger than your normal wires in hot tape.  Copper is a better conductor of electricity and the braiding helps maintain the charge.  To give you an idea of the difference in quality - a normal roll of 400m hot tape weighs in at just under 1.5kg.  This 400m roll weighs in at 2.7kg.   A lot more wire and a much stronger UV stabilised 12mm poly weave.

Now all of this sounds expensive, and it is.  Near on $100 for a 400 metre roll.  But as we say, we like to support Australian made products and Australian innovation as well so we're knocking 25% off to get the product out there and people recommending it.
