Titchmarsh & Goodwin Long John Oak Nest 3 Coffee Tables

Description:
This is a beautiful set of "Titchmarsh and Goodwin" fine quality English furniture makers, nest of three Long John occasional coffee tables comprising one large centre coffee table and two smaller tables which fit beneath, one at each end, often referred to as a Long John nest.  The tables each stand on block form feet united by distressed plain rails with beautiful baluster turned legs over with moulded rails, surmounted by a solid oak top with classic dowels holding the top in place.  The tables have a wonderful antiqued patinated medium to light oak finish.

Provenance:
"Titchmarsh and Goodwin" is a small family firm of cabinet makers who were established in Ipswich, Suffolk in 1920.  They specialize in hand-made furniture and have perhaps the finest team of young craftsmen in England, including wood turners, gilders, carvers and lacquer artists.  The quality and finish of their products are renowned worldwide and they have always given an unconditional guarantee against faulty craftsmanship and selection of materials.  Titchmarsh and Goodwin must be unique in having, not only their own woodlands, but their own sawmills where timber is sawn to size and then specially seasoned.  All they ask is that great care is taken of this piece of furniture and that it is given a sparing application of fine wax polish occasionally.

Date:
The tables date from the late 20th Century.

Condition:
The tables are in good condition, with minor distressing which only adds to character and authenticity, retaining their original finish with only minor wear.
