Toyota Landcruiser Station Wagon

History: I have owned this great machine for about 6 years now. Before me a geologist who loved the thing to death owned it - I dont want to sell it either, but due to changes in commitments, sadly it has to go. It's old, its dirty, its rough, but it is HELL Reliable and and Tuff as nails. Mechanicaly very cheap to keep and use. I have only used it for outback camping trips within SA, so most of its travelled distance since I've owned it (about 50,000 k's) has been on open roads, very little city use. I have used it minimally in 4WD, only when needed, it has not been used for 4WD recreational purposes. I conduct private zoological research in outback areas, this vehicle has taken me on untold numbers of trips and has never broken down.
What things are needed doing? Thats depends on how fussy you are. 1) Speedo cable broke just recently (about 1 month ago snapped, so no odometer). 2) Brakes need adjusting, otherwise quite good. On this model brake adjustments are required quite frequently, I always do it myself - easy 3) Oil leaks are common, but at this age what do you expect? The oil isnt pouring out anywhere, just the usual very slow drips etc. 4) Doors could be improved to close better etc, some lubrication and adjustment. Otherwise everything works okay. Engine uses oil, but only minimally, no smoke blows out. 5) LPG gas system is past 10 years and needs to be checked and cleared etc - but runs well on LPG and petrol. (tank is internal) 6) Engine mounts are broken.....erm, they have been that way for quite some time, engine is that heavy they dont matter - I never got around to replacing them (easy job).
In General: Sits on 100+ k's no problem. Has 4 speed manual gearbox with transfer case. Is fitted with LPG gas and runs very well on both fuels. LPG system is out of date, needs to be checked by licensed LPG mechanics. Has some body rust, but ffor this model is very good, most have vanished off the face of the planet due to oxidation. Has a heap of wheels and tyres with it. All rubber on the vehicle is good, less than 50% wear. Comes with a total of 7 sunraysia mags and tyres. All have good tread. 3 are retreads, which I keep as spares, those on the vehicle are new tyres, not re-treads. Also comes with 4 original split rims and tyres. Those tyres are variable wear, but all are less than 50% tread remaining. It has an onboard tyre pressure and temperature digital monitoring system. Each wheel on the vehicle has a sensor inside the rim that sends a signal to the main control unit telling you the tyre pressures and temperatures as you drive - and alarms you of overheating or significant pressure changes - brilliant system. Radiator is a heavy duty job I had put in brand new about 3 years ago, the thing never gets hot. The battery is CENTURY, heavy duty truck, is BRAND NEW, only about 1 month ago I purchased it before another trip, just in case and took the old one as a backup. Exhaust is only about 2 years old, so you wont have prob's with that. Handbrake shoes have been replaced about 12 months ago. Has a full length roof rack, with one spare wheel chained and padlocked to it. Another spare wheel is under the rear. Has bull bar. Has spot lights, but they are NOT wired in. Operates as it should in 4WD, no issues there, has free wheeling hubs. All lights work, horn works, wipers work (not sure about water squirter though), AM/FM radio works. All seat belts operational. Rear seat folds down so you can sleep inside, I also used the roof rack for sleeping. Front bench seat adjusts back and forth for the best position. Has a basic oscillating fan wired in. Heater works, standard electric fan works, demister works. Interior light works.
