Two Milk Glass Victorian Vases with Amber Ruffles
These two matching milk glass vases with amber Ruffles display extremely well but they are damaged. Measuring 17cm tall and 5.5cm at the base they are a perfect example of excellent craftmanship. The ruffles and handles are hand blown as is amber glass on the rim.
The damage can be detected under close inspection and is as follows: One vase has a substantial chip to the base on the back. It has caused a hairline fracture that extends up and around the handle finishing just above the frill that decorates from the handle. It is difficult to detect unless under close inspection. Part of the frill on this vase is also missing to the side of the vase. The other vase also has a hairline fracture to the side but more to the back and it really is very hard to detect unless under certain lights. It does not show at all when on display. This vase may also have a slight chip to the ruffle (where it finishes) although I am unsure as to whether it is just where the glass blowing finishes. It isn't at all obvious as being a fault when on display. Placed on a mantle piece or in a china display cabinet, both vases would look just sensational.
