TV receiption in my area:

In Merrylands area of Sydney, I use its own portable aerial, it can pickup the SBS and D44 channel groups. And If I use a normal in-door antenna, it can receive an extra group of ABC TV, Use the roof antenna, it can receive all the available digital channels in Sydney.  But in the Artarmon area (close transmission towers), its little areal can picks up every channels. On the Hamiltion Island,Qld, with its little areal, It picks up: Channel 10 MacKay, SC Ten, One HD Mackay, Win TV Mackay, Win HD, ABC1, ABC2, SBS1, SBS 2, SBS HD.   

Other regions may have different reception conditions, and the environment in which you are viewing can be affected by various factors: proximity to the digital TV transmitter, heavy/ tall building constructions and thick walls or ceilings etc.

To connect it with the roof antenna, you need to get an antenna cable from the Dick Smith Electronics Store, Item no: C1400 ( http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/49ba1eeb12861ca82740c0a87e0106eb/Product/View/C1400 ).

What is High Deinition  & how is it different from Standard definition?

Regular TVs, TV channels you watch at home are typically in Standard Definition. DVDs are also in Standard Definition,. High Definition or "HD" is a technological leap forward from Standard Definition with up to 5x the picture resolution, so that what you see is sharper and more realistic. The HDTVs are capable of showing High Definition content. 720p, 1080i, and 1080p are all High Definition formats, 1080p provides the higest pictures quality.

Standard Definition TV by comparison is much lower with a resolution of 576i. The "i" refers to interlaced scanning, The "p"refers to progressive scanning... Hiight Definition TV broadcasting can deliver content up to 1080i. The Blue-ray Disc can deliver full 1080p content.
