From collectibles to electronics, buy and sell all kinds of items on eBay StoresUSS POCATELLO PF-9 USN Patrol Frigate naval cover postmarked from Pocatello, Idaho on April 26, 2006. Blue color printed photo of actual ship on cachet #2818 by Alvin Eckert #9964, USCS. This Tacoma Class patrol frigate served in World War II with a US Coast Guard crew of 190 men. Cover franked with a 37 cent World War II Memorial stamp ( Sc# 3862 ). The vessel served as a weather station ship 1,500 miles west of Seattle (Weather Station Able) starting in July of 1944. She spent a dozen patrols of 30 days at sea and ten days in port, as a weather ship and plane guard vessel before WW II ended. Scheduled for disposal she was transferred to Charleston, SC, decommissioned on 2 May 1946, and sold. Check out my other items!
