Also on the card, Brian Johnston, a menacing kick boxer and Judo black belt, tackles Iran’s Reza Nasri ( Greco Roman Wrestling). Lion’s Den sensation Jerry Bohlander matches his submission hold skills with Fabio Gurgel (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu). Sam Adkins and Scott Ferrozzo are also on hand to get in on the action. It’s pulse-pounding excitement that includes a Heavyweight Tournament and two single Heavyweight bouts as Randy Couture battles Vitor Belfort in the Heavyweight Elimination Bout, and UFC Champion Maurice Smith takes on David “Tank” Abbott for the UFC Heavyweight Championship.

Volume 16

The Ultimate Fighting Championship® brings its toughest contenders to the BATTLE IN THE BAYOU with non-stop intensity in three separate weight classes. Four fighters grapple for the glory in UFC’S first ever Four-Man Lightweight Tournament. The Middleweight Superfight matches up Lion’s Den veteran Jerry Bohlander and Olympic Gold Medalist Kevin Jackson. In the Heavyweight Superfight rookie  Tsyuyoshi Kosaka challenge Kimo, veteran of three UFC’s. And, the Octagon™ finale features defending Champion Frank Shamrock and Judo and Sambo expert Igor Zinoviev as they go head to head for the Middleweight Championship.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Mark “The Hammer” Coleman returns in his first fight since losing his title against Lion’s Den fighter Pete Williams in Ultimate Fighting Championship® XVII: REDEMPTION. Two additional Heavyweight Superfights include the UFC’s Bad Boy David “Tank” Abbott vs. Luta Livre expert Hugo Duarte and Joe Pardo vs. explosive newcomer Mike Van Arsdale. The Four-Man Middleweight Tournament features four new fighters in the Octagon™, including two-time Olympian Dan Henderson, Jiujitsu expert Allan Goes, Carlos Newton and Bob Gilstrap.

Volume 18

The UFC returns to New Orleans for the semi-finals of the heavyweight elimination tournament. The lightweight title is on the line when champion Pat Miletich steps into the Octagon™ with Jorge Patino. Competition is fierce in two middleweight  bouts beginning with the UFC debut of two rising young stars then moving on to “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz and “Lion’s Den Fighter” Jerry Bohlander in the ultimate submission fighting match.
