As pictured is an old tatting shuttle that has a design pattern of lines ??? Carved/Embossed/Stamped ??? on both  the front and back of the shuttle.   It does appear to be plastic but Im not an expert, so Im not certain. anyway its a nice shuttle and as a bonus you get a Susan Bates knit counter.             Today, 11/10/09 I was informed by a tatting teacher and shuttle collector that this is a  carved bone tatting shuttle and it was given as a bonus for selling subscriptions to a popular ladies magazine in the 1920's.     Bid Now!  Buyer will agree to pay $1.50 S&H in the USA.
