Here's a real sleeper - If you found these, don't miss out, buy them! In a quandry as to what to do with these, so thought I'd see what you all think. These are seat backs my mother bought in Japan back in the 1960's. I'm sure they are very old, but have no idea just when they were made. The backs are unglazed, but do have a shiny finish around the edge - maybe its old glue, but I can't tell for sure. I seem to remember my mom had glued felt on the backs and used these as "hot pads" for her Rose Medallion plates Anyway, they are about 10.25 " wide, and 8.5" high, and kind of scaloped. There is a little damage on each one: The first, with the two ladies, has a roundish spot just under 1/2" in diameter, just below the blue fan in the right hand ladies hand, where the green glaze of her dress is chipped off. The other, with the three men, has a tiny (1/8X3/16") glaze chip off near the edge, dirctly above the left hand man's head, where the green leaves are at the edge. Otherwise they are perfect, the glaze is shiny and the colors are great. These would look great framed, or just resting on old wooden plate stands. Priced right, I think, don't miss out!
