Not sure how old this piano is but it needs retiring. Once a much loved family item it must now find a new home to give way to cupboards and storage - I need the space! I think the name on the piano says 'CH Shnieder - Hamburg' but it has rubbed off so it is a bit difficult to read.
The woodwork on it is still in reasonable condition. Some of the keys are slightly chipped and discoloured but not too bad. This piano is still playable to a point. Wouldn't be suitable for someone who can really play but probably alright for someone starting to learn. Most keys still sound ok except the C & D above middle C are way out of tune and I doubt thtey can be tuned. It is a wooden frame which doesn't lend itself to tuning and the peddles don't work.
But hey, lets look outside of the square and think of the things it CAN do rather than the negatives. If not used as a piano it would make a great prop for some amature dramatics group. A handy person could knock out the top panels and turn it into a very original fish tank, shelves, display cabinet - really the options are endless with a bit of imagination, why not paint it psychadelic colours and use it as a rather fancy plant stand???
