Here is a very rare, bakelite, Military/Linesman's "Telephone Set "F" Mark 2" still in it's original fitted wooden box in excellent condition for age.

I've had this one for a very long time. I Bought it from an old gentleman near Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills who was a collector of all types of militaria.

Last year i was speaking to a member of the telephone restoration society at their stall at an antiques fair and he told me he hadn't seen one of these offered for sale for around 25 years!

Marked: Telephone Set "F" Mark II G.E.C. (General Electric Company)

The Bakelite case and handset is all in great condition, no cracks or chips, still with all the patina of it's great age, it could be cleaned up with a polish if you wished but I've always displayed it just as it is.

Comes complete with it's original timber travelling case in excellent order, again in original condition.

One of the many interesting points of this piece is that the phone is set up on a latched sliding mechanism in the box, so the lid is lifted and the phone slid part way out for use, just until it hits the stop, without removing it completely. If one wishes to remove the phone completely the spring loaded latch underneath is operated to allow this.

Note in the photos that the outer covering on the cord from the handset is frayed for a couple of inches, insulation on inner wires is still fine, as is the rest of the cord, again just a sign of the phones age, use and history.

I've never actually wired this phone up and used it, but judging from it's condition I've always assumed it would work if i did so.

Will be well packed and posted promptly.

Thanks for looking and good luck with bidding!
