A VERY GOOD PLAYING COPY OF THIS RARE DURIUM FLEXIBLE 78 FROM "TERRY'S QUICK CHANGERS"

Durium records were published about four weeks after they were recorded. They cost one shilling and were published on Friday, pay-day for the British employees. The selection method was the same as the American model. Hits-of-the-day, made famous by radio broadcasts and movies were recorded by musicians from leading English dance bands. The sound of the music was “ sophisticated, rhythmic, witty and, like a good sauce or perfume, it also had that certain something!”

DURIUM EN-20 10" FLEXI-CARD 78rpm CONDITION - RECORD - EX-/VG+

Durium Records generally need weight on top of them to keep them flat on the turntable, and a slightly heavier tracking weight when using a modern stylus to play through. I find a heavy glass inserted over the label when the record is on the turntable does the trick. The surface is fairly quiet although there is usually a little noise at the start of the tracks and there may be the odd bump - but overall they have a very nice sound.
