I found this little sweetie in a thrift shop somewhere outside of Detroit USA in 2000 and she has been carefully stored ever since. She is a little black doll, made of cotton I think and homemade, at that. She is wearing a yellow print dress and knickers and has six braids, each with faded yellow ribbons at the end.

Her mouth and eyes look as though they were glued on and are felt. Her nose has been painted on.

I think she is pretty old although in good condition. Her dress is faded slightly as are the ribbons in her hair. Her knickers are kind-of long legged, although in my pics, they are rucked up. Both dress and knickers have a fine rickrack braid around them. I think the knickers with the elongated legs could be an indication of the fashion in the Thirties but I suppose that's pure speculation.

She is about 10 inches long. There's no holes or loose stitches. I'm not sure what she is filled with but it's quite firm, although squeezable. She has a small faint mark above her nose. I'm sure it could be removed with care.

She is a darlin, and a long way from home. Perhaps it's time she returned!

Postage to USA would be around $15.00 for airmail. Postage within Australia would be $8.80 which includes reg/insurance.
