DIY Audiophile Series: How to Make Your Own Audiophile Quality Valve (Tube) Amplifier

Brand new, BEST SELLING 4 DVD set (4 HOURS!), a video do-it-yourself workshop, produced and recorded in Australia, by ValveMark founders. Learn how to make your own valve (tube) amplifier, save thousands of dollars in the process and get the sound as good as or better sounding than Audio Research, Conrad-Johnson, Cary, not to mention the lesser brands! ValveMark, a butique valve amp maker based in Perth, Australia, used to make audiophile tube amplifiers. Now we focus on educational products for audiophiles and DIY enthusiasts.

Please browse through our ebay store for more DIY resources, DVD programs, collections of tube circuits and transformer winding diagrams.

Available in two versions - PAL (Australia, NZ, Europe) or NTSC (USA, japan, South Korea and some other countries) standard - you choose the format. All regions - not locked into any country region, so you don't need a multi-region DVD player. Total program length: approx 4 hours!

Past buyers were very satisified with the program! A few completed their own amplifiers and are very happy with the sound.

Most commercial amps are made to a strict budget. Wholesalers, importers and distributors take their cut, as does the government (taxes, duties). Retailers add their hefty (40%-60%) margins on top of the wholesale price. To minimise costs and maximise profits, many compromises are made in design, choice of parts and manufacture.

When you MAKE YOUR OWN AMP, you are not making it with profit in mind, you care about the sound first and foremost! If you know what you are doing, your own amp can sound better than most commercial amps and will end up costing you only a fraction of the price. This program will help you achieve just that!

Although this program is based on  constructing a  single-ended stereo amp using 300B output triodes, with point-to-point wiring (as an example), the principles and methodology outlined in these DVDs can be used for any other type of valve amp (single-ended, push-pull, OTL, monoblocks, PCB - printed circuit board based amplifiers, etc) or any type of output valve or circuit configuration (triode, pentode, ultra-linear)!

A detailed circuit diagram for a single-ended 300B amplifier is included, plus the wiring diagram and parts list, together with all design and construction instructions.

NOTE: The ValveMark monoblock amplifier pictured is for illustration purposes only and is not included in the auction.

Apart from all the action filmed on  top-resolution (highest quality) DVDs, this program comes with a book, a bonus photo album  with 69 full colour photos! Schematics, close-up shots of important details, the photos of the flip-charts used in the program, it’s all there, together with additional comments and information, some of which is not mentioned in the video, so it pays to read the book carefully! Plus, you don’t have to skip back and forth and press pause all the time on your DVD player!

This workshop is a "must have" for all serious audiophiles and DIY constructors who want to build their own high-end vacuum tube (valve) audio amplifiers. If you prefer doing your own rather than buying overpriced and often inferior commercial stuff, this workshop will be a real treasure to you. Construct your own point-to-point wired amplifier! Test your amplifier before and after each modification so you can tell what works and what doesn’t!

Even if you don't intend to make your own tube amp, this program will be still be of interest, at least you will understand how valve amps work, how they are constructed and what issues affect the sound, the looks and the price. You will be a much more knowledgeable person and an informed buyer and audiophile.

The information revealed in this video program is not available in a visual format - finally you can see how it's done and hear the commentary while each operation is being performed, step-by-step. Reading about something is one thing, and seeing an expert do it in front of you (and explain how and why) is something completely different!

NOW YOU CAN FIND OUT and SEE with your very eyes ...EXACTLY HOW IT'S DONE ... SO YOU CAN APPLY THIS KNOWHOW IN YOUR OWN AMPLIFIER PROJECT ...AND ACHIEVE THE SAME or EVEN BETTER RESULTS! The key to your own success in building a valve (tube) amplifier is to discover exactly how other successful designers and builders do it. If you want to learn how to wind and make your own chokes and transformers (power and output), have a look at our other program, a 3-hour DVD workshop, also listed on ebay.

Bid with confidence. The response to this and our other DVD programs has been outstandingly positive. Thank you for your kind compliments and continued support! A few intrepid constructors made their amps by following this DVD workshop and are very happy with the sound, not to mention inner pride and satisfaction from knowing what you are capable of and telling others "I made this amp!"

We have sold our DVDs in Australia, USA, Serbia, Croatia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Germany, Thailand, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Portugal, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Hong Kong, Greece, Poland, Japan, South Africa, Belgium, South Korea, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Chile, Netherlands, Malaysia, Singapore, India, ...

FAQs

Q: Do you specify where to buy tubes and other parts? A: No. Just search for what you need (for example a 12AX7 tube ...) and you'll find dozens of reputable retail suppliers. Google and ebay are two obvious starting points ...

Q: Do I need expensive tools? A: Absolutely NOT! You will see what is required: a soldering iron, a few screwdrivers, and a few small tools - cutters and long-nose pliers. If you want to do metal work, you will also need a few metalworking tools.

Q: Do I need to buy expensive  measuring equipment? A: Absolutely NOT! A good multimeter is a must, but they are getting cheaper by the day. The best testing instrument is your ears!

NO RETURNS! In an unlikely case of any problems with DVDs, faulty disc(s) will be promptly replaced and mailed to you at our expenseWe wish you every success with your DIY project and your quest for good sound!

PAYMENT: Australian buyers can pay by PayPal, personal or bank cheque, postal money order or cash on pickup. International buyers must pay by PayPal!

REGARDING CHEPSKATES AND LOW-BALLERS:

I have been receiving low-ball offers on some of our DVD programs (those with a "Best offer" option), $12, $40 and so on. These are insulting. Try making such offers to a plummer, car dealer or your doctor or dentist! Some people even commented on internet forums that $100+ for 3 or 4 DVDs is too expensive. Maybe they are too cheap ...

Here is how I see it:

1. These DVD programs are the only ones of this kind in the world, unique. Therefore no price is too high, since you have no other option - you cannot buy a competing from anybody else. I think that AU$109 or AU$119 per set is actually too cheap. That is the cost of a mediocre 3-course dinner and drinks for one in an ordinary restaurant in Australia!

2. You are not getting just a DVD set but a full color-laser printed book to go with it, and with some programs, a colour laminated sign.

3. Each of our DVD programs took months to script, film and edit. Booklets took weeks to design, edit, print and bind. The investment in filming equipment only was more than $3,000, not counting computers, professional video editing software, multiple disk burners, colour laser and inkjet printers and so on. The there is a high investment in amplifiers fetured, test & measuring equipment, parts and components and the like. All those expenses have to be costed and recouped from the modest price of our DVD workshops.

4. Ultimately, you are not buying DVDs, you are buying knowledge! This knowledge comes from more than 80 years of combined professional experience in physics, tube and solid-state electronics, audio manufacturing & retailing, and teaching and training business (Dr Bob since 1950's and Igor since 1980's).

5. This is how I make my living - selling these DVD programs is my only source of income. Igor and Bob provide their assistance and their valuable time for free. I cannot wish for a better husband or nicer father-in-law.

6. Although ongoing technical support and advice is, stricctly speaking, NOT included in the cost of a program, Igor and Bob are happy to answer any reasonable question you may have, free of charge. They cannot spend two hours guiding you through your DIY project for free, but a question or two that take 10-15 minutes to answer via email, we are happy to oblige. That is additional value you get for the modest price of our DVD programs.

7. Most importantly, I have never had one unhappy or unsatisfied buyer, someone who wanted to return a DVD program he or she bought. That tells you something. We ship on the same day of the payment and you get your stuff within 3 days in Australia and within 8-14 days world-wide. Although airmail (untraceable) postage is at buyer's risk, in a few very rare cases where the package does not arrive, we replace it at our expense - we don't want undeserved negative feedback, we want you to be happy! In other words, I try to make your experience with us a real pleasure.

So, if you still think our DVD prorgams are not the best value-for-money around, feel free to spend hundreds of hours searching the web for this information (most of it you'll never find since it isn't there), and then a few more hundreds of hours trying to make sense out if it all, reconcilling often contradictory claims and false information from amateurs, Good luck!

Thank you for your trust and your purchases! Best wishes, Elena
