This stamp was number 1 in the sheet.  The letters AE at base indicate that it came from the top left corner.

It is a fine stamp without blemish, and the provenance is ex J.R.W.Purves.  He pronounced it to have what he called a 'stitch' watermark - which are various odd lines in the paper.  There is no catalogue for this variety and it is mentioned so that, some day, someone may take notice and do more research.
