MORE OF MEX'S VICTORIA POSTMARK OFFERS

These are the numbers, each one representing a different town/locality, used on the right hand side of a  duplex canceller.

These implements were brought into use from 1861 in Melbourne to save time. Prior to that date every envelope had to be hand stamped twice, once with the numeral obliterator to ensure that the postage stamp could not be re-used, and second time with datestamp canceller to show point of origin, or transit, with date/time

Viewers should note that the R rating in the duplex types is for the complete duplex, NOT the single numeral on its own.
