On offer here is this very beautiful and rare cabinet display plate hand painted at the works of Ambrosius Lamm of Dresden.
The sitter is the beautiful Gräfin ( Countess ) Potocka, who was the great niece of the last of the Polish Kings;
Stanislaus Augustus Poniatowski, and the great-grand-daughter of the greater Stanislaus, who was the agent of Charles XII., King of Sweden.
She was also the daughter of Louis Tyszkiewicz, and was intended to become the wife of her uncle, Prince Stanislaus, but at twenty-six
she married instead Count Potocki, thus becoming in Polish fashion the Countess Potocka.
This beautiful display plate is richly gilded and jeweled on a deep, cobalt blue border and the well is finely hand painted with a portrait
of the Countess against blue clouds. The blank bears the factory stamp of 'R.C. Versailles' in green, the blue painted 'Lamm'
studio mark with Dresden and number: '49' underneath, as well as the hand applied title of the sitter, in black; 'Gräfin Potocka'.
This plate is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, scratches or repairs. The gilding is fine and unrubbed.
9 and 3/4 inches (24.7 cm) diameter.
