Running time: 90mins approx Rated: E Language: English This fascinating programme starts with the demise of the Steam light railways in Wales. We then see the famous Steam engine that features in the motion picture 'The Titfield Thunderbolt'. The Evening Star is shown next. This was the last Stem engine built by British Rail. On a visit to a museum at Crewe, we see the North Star which was the first Steam Train to run from London's Paddington Station. The other footage includes the 'Flying Scotsman' filmed on its 40th Anniversary run from Kings Cross in 1986. The second volume of VINTAGE STEAM includes film footage mostly from the 1950's & 1960's. It includes a great deal of rare amateur footage never seen before. We see the demise of much of the system in the 60's with lines falling into disuse over stations and tracks becoming overgrown with weeds and derelict.
