THE VIVIAN GIRLS were on the verge of breaking up last year just as people were starting to take notice. Drummer and founding member Frankie Rose was burning out on balancing the trio's relentless touring with responsibilities to her other band, Crystal Stilts, and tensions were running high. Now the girls are set to release Everything Goes Wrong," - a more ambitious effort in every way! Whereas "Vivian Girls," consisting of 10 songs spanning 22 punk-rock minutes, was recorded and mixed in three days, the new disc was wrapped in eight days and showcases more ambitious songwriting. Ramone's guitar-playing is more expressive and expansive, echoing the churning momentum of the Wipers' Greg Sage, and Katy's bass-playing assumes a bigger role in the mix.
