Collected in 2009 in central highlands West Timor.
This blade was made in Middleburg in 1770.See from the markings that authenticate this rare and exceptional collectors item.

Markings are the same on both sides.
Although the blade has been re-hilted with handcrafted red cedarwood that has been decoratively carved with symbols of power and the scabbard, although slightly damaged and bound together by twisted wire and bits of jungle vine tjhis blade presents well and has nonetheless been creatively handmade to house the almost full original length blade.
Considering its age this blade is in very good overall condition.
The blade is 49cm / 19.5" long .
The overall length including hilt and scabbard is 61.5cm / 24" long.
Total weight is 530g / 1lb2.7oz.

Dutch East India Company (Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie, VOC), dating from 1770. The lightly antiqued high carbon steel blade has a distal taper, with fullers on both sides along the spine,
The VOC had contracts to build and operate foundaries in such places as India. Among the things produced in these places were blades for trade/commerce.
In the first half of the seventeenth century, the VOC was the most important organization and largest employer in the prosperous and powerful United Provinces of the Netherlands. The VOC was then the wealthiest and most powerful merchant company on earth.
