Part of the Bug Me Video Series
Type 1/Beetle Floor Pan Repair & Replacement
Description
Bug Me Video Volume Six introduces you to the bodywork of your Beetle. While this VW VHS Video is focused on repairing the floorpans various tools and techniques are introduced which can be applied to many types of bodywork repairs. Both power and air tools are discussed and shown in action demonstrating the pros and cons of each. When it comes to fastening the new floor pans in place you are shown how to do it with a MIG welder or by using metal screws allowing you to choose which method you feel most comfortable with. As usual, no experience is assumed and an introduction to MIG welding is provided.
A couple of different approaches to repairing floor pans are discussed. Repairs with the body removed from the chassis of the car or with the body in-place are explained and demonstrated. Detailed, step-by-step instruction is provided on how to remove the body from the chassis. Body removal is shown for both standard and Super Beetles.
Besides using metal replacement pans, the VHS Video addresses using the "never rust" fibreglass boards. As with all the Bug Me Video VHS Videos, differences between the various VW models are highlighted. In particular, the reinforced convertible beetles are discussed at length as they have some special features that need taking into account.
