My heart seems to skip a little faster when I list a very special beautifully prepared volume such as this one:
"Victorian Designs in Needlework", by Phyllis Kluger, published in 1978. This is a fine copy and is a 1st printing of the 1st edition and is with its dust jacket.
The author of this exquisite volume of easy-to-do needlepoint designs has illustrated each graphed pattern with an accompanying photo of the decorative art that inspired the designs and were integrated into the architecture, furniture, glassware, paintings, clothing, ceramic tiles, William Morris carpets, beadwork, Tiffany stained glass patterns ...and on and on....even inventions...such as the National Cash Register with its ornately engraved scrolls!.....art that Victorians were surrounded by in their everyday life.
There are 23 color plates following page 54....and many more sepia graph work designs... (not shown in our photos)... to copy....and gives easy to follow instructions and hints for easy needleworking. She also suggests ways to incorporate these works into various and lovely decor items for the home.
It is a fabulous needle art book....truly inspired...unique in its style and content !!! It has a complete index...which reflects the careful research that contributed to this charming edition.
It is out of print ...very hard to find in this HARDCOVER EDITION, AND IN SUCH VERY FINE CONDITION. We find no marks, no soiling, no writings throughout this copy. (The dustjacket has a bit of edge wear and has been reinforced on the underside at several places to protect it fom further rubbing).
