A well used and patinated hat stretcher from the mid 19th Century. Craftsman made from Beech and Oak, stained and patinated from much use. The mechanism consists of  matching turned screwthreads to expand and hold inside the hat.

A: Maximum extension before the thread detaches is 8 3/4 inches. When contracted, the wide measurement is 7 1/2 inches.
