You are bidding on a VideoMate U3 Digital TV Tuner DVB-T USB 2.0 stick.

 

I bought this Digital TV Tuner USB stick to with the plan of being able to watch the Cricket and other sport on my laptop instead of having to fight the family for one of the other TVs.  Unfortunately I discovered that we get appalling digital TV reception where we live.  We’re only about 7km “as the crow flies” from the Mt Cootha TV broadcast antennas but we’re in a hollow caused by the Taylor Range so reception is crap unless we wanted to put up about a 3 metre high external antenna on the roof  which would be ugly and probably get blown off in a decent storm.

 

I wrestled with this for a few months last year. Even paid a local antenna guy $120 to “tune” and repoint our current antenna which is in inside the tiled roof.  He managed a slight reception improvement on some analogue channels (and screwed up SBS but we lived with that to get improvement on the other channels) but almost no perceptible improvement on digital.  So for now we’re stuck with Foxtel if we want decent reception on TV and I don't think I'm going to get the desired result from this stick.  Hopefully someone else can benefit from it.

 

This U3 USB TV tuner stick is supposed to be one of the better ones.   Compro who make it,  make what I think are the best tuner cards.  Their analog cards in particular used to give a way better picture than a few other brands that I played with.

It comes in its original packaging along with a Mini-antenna (which I never used), software and driver CD and manual.
