Gorgeous, vintage 2-Tone cowhide leather clam-shell style handbag/ shoulder bag/ purse, made by VC. Beautifully designed and styled, with a wonderful two-tone effect, produced by the selection of two different types of material, in different, contrasting colours. The front, back & base of the outer shell are made from synthetic fabric (PVC), which is a dark navy blue colour (bordering on black, but has a definite dark blue tinge), and is smooth with a matte finish, and has the added feature of dual contrast stitching bordering the panels. The leather forming the sides, trim, latch-tab and strap, is thick, firm, cowhide leather, and also features fine contrast-stitching. The leather shoulder strap is 120 cm (47") in length, with a 20" drop. There is a leather tab sewn to the back, which has metal lock on the other end, which slips through the metal latch attached to the front - which keeps the bag closed. There is a leather badge sewn to the front, which features the "VC" initials embossed within an oval, with some smaller lettering stating: "Mode 1950 VCC". 

The bag opens in clam-shell fashion, and inside, the interior is lined with dark blue, or black, fabric. The sides are gussetted to limit how far you can open the bag, and there are two open compartments, and 3 pockets, including 2 zippered pockets. There is also a sewn leather label, with the VC brand logo, and gilt stamped "Genuine Leather". The interior is clean and in very good condition, with no signs of significant wear, except some light wear to the interior trim or skirting along the edge.    

The exterior of the bag is generally in very good condition, with leather looking great, while the dark synthetic panels have some light wear and scuffing in places, which is not very noticeable. The edges of the outer shell are all good, and without wear, and the stitching is all intact, with just some slight wear in one place at the base. The leather strap is also in good condition, with just some minor wear to the leather in places. The metal fittings, including the lock & latch, are worn and somewhat soiled, and have had much of their gold or brass plating rubbed away, but are in good working order.

This lovely bag has a wonderful retro feel to it, and is reminiscent of many Italian bags, that were done in a very similar style. The leather used has been high-grade, full-grain cowhide leather, and its two-tone design makes it all the more rare and appealing.
