Vintage Antique Whiting & Davis Art Deco Gold Mesh Handbag

This is an amazing find! This is a circa 1940s gold mesh evening bag by the very collectable designer, Whiting and Davis.

This bag features lovely Art Deco enamel work and the slinkiest, heaviest mesh that you could imagine. It has a chain handle. This is a small bag, just perfect for an evening out.

Please note, I'm not an expert when it comes to vintage bags, so please ask questions!

Signatures/Hallmarks

The bag is signed "Whiting and Davis" and "Mesh bags"

Measurements

The bag measures 15.5 cm long and it is 11.5 cm wide.

Materials

Gold mesh and black enamel.

Condition

I can't see any wear to the gold tone finish on the mesh. There is light wear to the gold tone finish on the chain handle and on the opening mechanism. There is some wear to the enamel (visible in the photographs). The bag opens and closes properly with a "snap". The mesh has come slightly undone near the hinges of the bag but only a little.

For international buyers, I charge a flat $20 (AUD) for postage. This includes insurance and tracking and is the actual cost. Please note, the label on the package does not show the cost of insurance only of postage. I am not overcharging you. Please remember that international postage can take up to four weeks.

I combine postage. No additional cost for additional items.

I will mail your item within 48 hours of your payment clearing or your money order/bank cheque arriving. Please remember eCheque and bank deposit can take five to seven working days to clear.

About vintage jewellery

All my vintage items are at least 25 years old. Because the jewellery I sell is old, it may show signs of wear. If you wish to buy perfect, mint condition jewellery then I do not recommend buying vintage items.

I do not recommend vintage costume jewellery for everyday wear. I suggest wearing these pieces for special occasions. Older pieces may be fragile and should be worn with respect and care.

I do not recommend cleaning vintage jewellery. Only professional cleaning is recommended for the pieces in my store.
