Vintage Art Deco Silk/Bakelite/Xylonite Hand Bag Purse

You are looking at an Art Deco 1930s silk faille hand or evening bag with a xylonite frame and bakelite or celluloid chain handle. These bags are now rare and highly collectable, and this one is a stunning example in near-mint condition.

The silk faille outer has been hand stitched to the frame with tiny opaque white beads studded at regular intervals around the frame. The bag is lined with a feminine floral fabric which is perfect save for a little darkening near the opening (see photo). Frame and chain handle are in excellent, almost perfect condition with almost no surface wear. Max. length approx. 30.5 cm, width of frame 15 cm.
