Vintage composition and cloth doll, possibly from the 30's, of unknown origin, could be restored or leave in vintage state. She has closing eyes, composition head with breastplate and composition forearms. Her cloth upper arms and legs are attached to the body with wooden joints and move. She seems to be stuffed with kapok or some other dense material. Her forearms are taped with masking tape where they join the cloth upper arm. The left arm looks like it could use some more stuffing . Back of head looks like it has been glued at some stage - 14cm crack and 6cm crack - both cracks have been glued well and could be camouflaged with painted hair, a wig or a bonnet or leave as is. Most of the original paint has worn off but there are still patches of skin colour remaining on parts of head and forearms. The eyes appear to be solid wood and still have remnants of original paint colour. The tightly woven fabric (cotton?) body is still in fair condition, small 3 cm slit on right outside knee, 8cm stain on right knee, 2 cm slit under right arm and under-stuffed left upper arm. Neck join is holding well. Doll measures 21" from head to feet. Doll comes with clothes in the photo, but I'm sure she could be dressed much more imaginatively. I have been unable to discover her brand, label or name. Doll weighs almost 1 kg when packed. |
