~Early Parts and Repair Kit (called "VOLUME CONTROL KIT") for radio, television, and industrial applications.
~Made by INTERNATIONAL RESISTANCE COMPANY of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Both parts and kit box made in USA.
~On front is IRC logo, with a map of the world and the motto, "Standard of Quality Throughout the World."
~Not sure of date. From the early days of television, pre-dating the use of U.S. Zip (Postal) Codes. Most likely from the 1940's, possibly 1950's.
~Most remarkable thing is the kit's immaculate condition, as if it were new or hardly used. Inside are contained many of the kit's original replacement parts, also brand new in their little cardboard boxes. Everything is preserved in museum-grade quality.
~Brightly painted metal box measures 14 1/2 inches long, 7 1/2 inches high, and 4 inches deep, has front hinged lid with handle to easily examine and access parts, and an extra strong base. Name and locations of box manufacturing company are on the back.
~Inside is a series of partitioned shelves and small metal drawers, all labelled for the purpose of organising each replacement part. Parts sit in their designated places in their little yellow and blue boxes with logos, numbers, names, specifications and descriptions.
~It seems that the parts are the latest in "modern, revolutionary developments" in television and radio technology. All the benefits are described on the metal box by the company.
~The various volume control parts seem to consist of controls, shafts and switches.
~This kit, with all its new replacement parts, is not a commonly found item. In this fine degree of preservation, it is especially rare.
