Vintage Whirling Psychrometer

Whirling Psychrometers are instruments designed to check temperature & humidity, they are not used so much now in this age of computers & sophisticated electronics but they are still functional, to use it the small water reservoir was filled with water then the operator went outside & whirled the phsychrometer round a few times & recorded the readings on both thermometers, using the chart the different temperature readings between the wet & dry thermometers would give the humidity at that time

  This is not strictly an antique but a vintage whirling psychrometer, most probably from the 1960s it's in very good original condition with no damage or known faults, it comes with the original hard leather case, instructions, relative humidity chart, & spare wicks for the wet bulb, it's made by the well known English scientific instrument maker G.H. Zeal the two thermometers are quality mercury thermometers made to exacting British standards the leather case is lined with red felt material, it measures 235mm x 135mm x 35mm the phsychrometer fits neatly inside with the handle folded, please check the photo's for details of this device & it's general condition

These vintage phsychrometers don't come up for bidding very often as they were expensive when new & few people could justify the purchase
