DESCRIPTION: Hand-operated horn - Model T Ford Dodge Buick Harley Indian
This is an original hand-operated horn. These hand-operated horns pre-dated the electric versions and were used on the veteran and early vintage era cars - would suit a variety of makes and models of this period including the Model T Ford, Dodge, Buick, Chevrolet, Studebaker etc. The Manufacturers plate reads "HANDPHONE The Automobile Supply Mfg Co, Brooklyn NY USA Patent Pending ". It is in working order - makes a loud distinctive sound when operated. The horn has survived the years in good order. There is some general surface wear and a few very small dings in the bell. It has the adjustment screw on the side for adjusting tone etc. The horn is approx 9 1/2 inches long and the horn bell is 5 1/2 inches wide at its widest point. This horn has the longer bell fitted as typically used when these were mounted onto to the early automobiles - this could be replaced with a shorter bell for use on an early motorcycle.
