WALTER WITHERS 1854-1913 Famous Australian Art By Andrew Mackenzie Walter Withers played an important role in the development of Australian art. He was a master draughtsman, a fine sketcher and worker in pen and ink, and a gifted art teacher who emphasised to his pupils the great importance of mastering drawing skills. However, it was his talent as a versatile landscape painter in oils and water colours for which he will be best remembered. Many of these works depict the local scenes of Heidelberg and Eltham in Victoria. Features beautiful colour reproductions throughout.
