British Mercenaries in Bosnia tell their own story.

Are they psychotic killers?  Courageous heroes fighting for the underdog?  Professionals doing the only job they know how?  'Cowboys', out for the fast buck? Or just bloody fools?

This is a compelling narrative of a wild bunch of mercenaries working in Bosnia, told in the language of men who are fighting and dying for a cause which is not their own.  These are battle-hungry men addicted to the 'buzz', the excitement of war, the comradeship of combat or the ultimate thrill of inconsequential killing.  They are led by ex-British soldier, ex-foreign Legionnaire and now experienced mercenary, Kit Freeman, who until recently was the chief training officer of the Croation Army's only English speaking company.  The mercenaries were there from the outbreak of hostilities in 1992.  The story follows them as they move around the unpredictable Bosnian countryside, avoiding endless road-blocks, check points, snipers, and engaging in firefights from an unknown and often useen enemy.

They have come to terms with scenes of unspeakable violence against women and children, an everyday occurrence in many towns and villages.  They live on the razor's edge of uncertainty, knowing that if they are captured by Chetnik enemy they will be tortured and their decapitated heads displayed as trophies.  This book is about the men and dream-crazed boys who change from their city-street-suits and hide themselves in jungle camoflage, modifying their grip on a pint in the local to the grasp on a Kalashnikov, and often leaving their bodies in a country that does not even know their names.

This 261 page hardcover is illustrated with black and white photographs.  The dustjacket has a little edgewear and there is a little light rubbing wear to back.  Internally it is in a very good, tight, clean condition.
