You are bidding for a very nice
rectangular wall display dish and printed on the face is:
"WAAF RE-UNION - 50 YEARS ON - 1939-1989 - BIRMINGHAM"
The plate also has painted faces of 6 uniformed WAAF women & 3 Aircraft.
'WAAF' stands for the Womens Auxiliary Air Force which was created at the beginning of WW2 in 1939 and ended up with over 180,000 women being in the Auxiliary of the Royal Air Force in the UK.
This re-union was in Birmingham U.K. and celebrated '50 years on'.
The plate in itself is a collectable as it was manufactured & stamped on the base by:
"WEATHERBY HANLEY - ENGLAND - ROYAL FALCON WARE"
The plate has a spring hook for hanging and 4 hook clips to hold the plate in position. Slight crazing in the top left hand corner. No chips or repairs to the plate/dish. Gold edging in excellent condition with no wearing.
Nice piece for the militaria collector or ex-WAAF members. Low start price.......
