ITEM DETAILS: This is a rare piece of pottery from the Wembley Ware range, being a large sized platter with a Gecko (Lizard) perched on the rim. The Gecko wraps around the wavy rim for about 1/4 of the circumference and measures approximately 26cm in length. This piece has the Wembley Ware impressed mark in its base of the mid 50's/60's.
POTTER: Calyx Porcelain Co. Ltd began operations in the late 1910's in Perth W.A.. By the mid 1940's the company had sold out to Hugh Lancelot Brisbane and Wunderlich Ltd who first started producing works under the Bristile name. By the late 1940's they had also adopted the Wembley trade name which was generally put on to crockery, ashtrays, ornaments, vases and animals.

DATE: From the late 1950's or 1960's by impressed pottery stamp.
CONDITION: Very good to excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
