  • ALL ORIGINAL EXCEPT NEW CLOTH CORDS: 5FT HANDSET, 8FT TO SUBSET 7FT MODULAR LINE CORD.
  • WESTERN ELECTRIC E-1 HANDSET IS PAINTED ANTIQUE WHITE OVER MOLDED BAKELITE                                                                                    
  • DESIGNED BY BELL AND MANUFACTURED BY THEIR WESTERN ELECTRIC DIVISION IT WAS THE MOST POPULAR TELEPHONE OF THAT PERIOD.
  • SOUND QUALITY EXCELLENT.  
  • OFTEN CALLED THE "IMPERIAL" WITH LATER F-1 HANDSET"

This is an original Western Electric (Bell System) 202. The handset is the earlier E-1 molded  Bakelite with several coats of antique white paint. Bakelite could not be colored in light shades. Painting was the only option at that time.  Only movie stars, vip's, and upscale hotels could have colored telephones in the early days.

The 202 set a new level in style, quality, and dependability.  It is amazing that 1930's technology produced a telephone that works with all of its original components and out performs most modern telephones

Some 202's were painted gold and a few were plated gold. Only for movie stars and VIP's 

Gold does not tarnish like other metals. With proper care it will last a lifetime. I send instructions for maintaining the telephone. Gold plating of all the parts cost over $150.00
