The mapping and Charting of Australia.

This informative and colourful map or chart is double sided, on one side is the discovery of Americas with the route taken by Dias 1482, Columbus 1492 - 1504, Da Gamma 1498, Magellan 1519 - 1522, Drake 1577 - 1580, etc .etc. with 19 pictures as well as the route taken by the Europeans.

On the reverse side is the discovery and mapping of Australia, New Zealand + Pacific Island , the various voyage's undertaking and a brief history of what europe knew of our wast continent 2000 years ago.

1ST CENTURY AD

Pliny the Elder (d,ad79) defines the antipodes (literally 'opposite footed ) as part of the world where people walk upside-down.

2 ND CENTURY

Ptolemy (active AD125-151 ) illustrates solid land - Terra Incognita - bounding the Indian Ocean to the South and East of Africa on his map of the world.

And so on , full of information and very educational, the size is 620 x 890mm or 24 x 35 inches.

It was published in 1988 by The International Cultural Corporation Of Australia for the " TERRA AUSTRALIS" exhibition to celebrate our 200 years as a nation.
