The Waimana is a wonderful wooden vessel measuring 56 feet, (17.1metres) in length with a beam of 14.5 feet, and a draft of 2 metres. Her hull is made from Kauri, a native timber to New Zealand and is in sound condition. The vessel is built to Survey, but not currently in survey. It was first commissioned in 1944 by the Percy Brothers and used throughout New Zealand waters as a fishing/trawling vessel, before being turned into a live on pleasure boat in the mid 1970's. The vessel is birthed in Tauranga harbor, North Island, New Zealand.
I have spent many hours and many thousands of dollars, getting her to her current condition. All decks have been glassed and there is also new Stainless steel rails which look fantastic. There is also a new anchor system with 150 meters of chain. She has 4 double berths and two singles. Two new electric toilets and shower rooms, one upstairs, one downstairs, with a 350 litre holding tank. It has two fridges operating on Gas, Battery or mains power, and one freezer on mains power. There are two water tanks with a total capacity of 800 litres.
Her engine is a 184HP, 6 cylinder diesel Gardner engine and she runs great. She has a cruise speed of 8 to 9 knots at 900rpm and a maximum speed of 10 knots at 1000rpm. The fuel consumption at cruise speed is only 12 litres per hour. There are two fuel tanks with a total capacity of 1600 liters. The engine is serviced every 500 hours.
She also comes with a 2metre dingy with a 3HP Yamaha outboard. 6 Fire extinguishers, flares, 12 lifejackets, 1 lifebuoy and a 406 Epirb. Clear covers for the side walks and stern, and there are 4 bilge pumps and the engine can bilge also. I will also throw in a petrol generator.
In the wheel house you will find the usual electronics such as a VHF, Radar, Furuno depth sounder, auto pilot, and Furuno GPS + chart plotter, Compass, fish finder and a stereo.
This is a great boat for fishing, diving, going places or just living onboard. I am selling as I wish to now move inland for a tree change! You will not be disappointed with this vessel and I will be sad to see her go. Thanks for looking.
