Born in the Gibson Desert east of Kiwirrkura. Walala walked out of the Gibson Desert with his family in 1984 after living a traditional nomadic lifestyle near Lake Mackay. This was the family’s first contact with European society and their emergence made international headlines.
Some years later Walala began painting portraying classic Tingari images, sacred and secret mythological song cycles, associated with his dreamings sites.
